Founded in 2006, Wine Punts is one of the few companies that produce these unique drinking glasses. We convert everyday wine bottles into a wine punt (drinking glass). Wine Punts is also dedicated to improving the environment by recycling thousands of wine bottles that get thrown away each month. Wine Punts simply cuts a wine bottle in half, using the bottom half as the drinking glass and recycling the top half. Every wine punt is hand made and inspected to obtain a high standard of quality control.

The family-run business is located in Colorado Springs, Colorado with the majority of business coming from out of state, and from many of the wine lovers across the nation.

How a Wine Punt is Made

The first stage in converting a wine bottle into a wine punt is selecting a set of bottles. Every wine bottle is different in many ways; color, glass thickness and punt size. You can have your Wine Punts made any way you like. The bottles can all be from the same wine so they match, or they can be mixed up a little to give some character.

The second stage is cutting the bottle at the right height. The top half of the bottle that is not used is thrown into a bin that is then recycled to make more wine bottles. The bottom half is then sent to the sander and fire polished at just the right temperature. This gives it a glossy look and comfortable feel.

The final stage is where each Wine Punt is run through a quality control checkpoint. If the wine punt does not pass, it is sent back to the sander for work. Once the glass passes the check point, it is then packaged and shipped off to its final destination.
